On October 29, 2009, Quest Crew performed at the “FIL-I-AM: Benefit Showcase” for Typhoon Relief. The benefit took place at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA and was in response to the tragedy Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng have brought to the Philippines. The Center for Asian Pacific American Students (CAPAS), the Pilipino Club, and the Asian Pacific American Coalition arranged this wonderful event.
The event featured Quest Crew, as well as a live concert featuring the Claremont Legacy Martial Arts, 5C dance company, UCLA Samahang Modern, and the award winning violinist Paul Dateh, with guitarist Ken Belcher. A speaker from ‘Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA)’ also took center stage to update the audience on the current situation, as well as ongoing relief efforts. The event helped raise almost $2000 and all proceeds will go directly to the Philippine Red Cross.
As a special thank you for their particpation, Quest received the following message:
On behalf of CAPAS, APAC, and the Pilipino Club at the Claremont Colleges, thank you all for being a part of our second annual Fil-I-Am Benefit showcase. We are so grateful for your willingness to give back to the community and those affected by the typhoons in the Philippines. As a result of your talented performance, we were able to raise over $2000!!!
The volunteers and most of all the Questie’s still couldn’t believe all of you were here. It means more to us than you know.
It was a pleasure working with you and it would be an honor to have the Crew here again. Attached is a small note of appreciation from all of us.
Maraming Salamat & Mahalo!

Quest would like to thank all of you, as well, for the opportunity to help support this incredibly important relief effort. We enjoyed performing and spending time with such wonderful people. Thank you, also, to all who came out to see our performance, as well as our fellow artists, and helping making this event a success!

This is sort of relevant, but today I was watching TFC (and to those who don’t know it’s The Filipino Channel) and they have this show called Showtime which basically like ABDC where they do routines and get judged and blah blah blah. Well, one group of about 20 guys did their performance, and not even lying, it was EXACTLY like you’re hip hop decathlon/toxic performance piece that you’ve been doing ever since ABDC. The mix was exactly the one that you use and their choreo was exactly like yours. There was not one bit of it that was original on their part. They had the “cat fight” to the “attempted” head slides to the “attempted” spinny thing hok does with his leg all the way up to Toxic. Every single move was from your performance. And get this, they even copied your hairstyles! All 20 of them! The spokesperson for their group had hair just like ryan\’s and he said he was inspired because he “loves goku.” And what really bothered me the most was that they didn’t give credit to you guys whatsoever. They took on all the criticism (and might I add the judges weren’t impressed) and had this look on their face like they were proud of the routine they copied.
ANYWAYS! That’s just a little fun fact for you guys. And don’t worry, you’re performance is x9284027508208 better than theirs.
