“FIL-I-AM: Benefit Showcase” for Typhoon Relief

In response to the tragedy Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng have brought to the Philippines, the Center for Asian Pacific American Students (CAPAS), the Pilipino Club and the Asian Pacific American Coalition invites the community to its “Fil-I-Am” benefit showcase on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 7:30pm at Pitzer College. The event is open to the community with a suggested donation of $5-10. This is an outdoor, alcohol free event. Parking is free.

State of Calamity
The Philippines, still recovering from Typhoon Ondoy and Super Typhoon Pepeng, which brought the most devastating floods in the last 40 years, stormed through areas of the country. In one week, the typhoons caused over 750 deaths, displaced hundreds of thousands of people, and resulted in $7 million in damages. Ondoy’s total rainfall was 410mm, while Hurricane Katrina’s was 380mm in New Orleans. The archipelago is faced with Typhoon Ramil, scheduled to arrive this week.

Hey quest crew, thanks for always being part of the benefit shows for the victims of Typhoons here in the Philippines. We really appreciate it. hey guys, I’m very thankful for your kindness and love with Filipino people who suffered from the typhoons “Ondoy” and “pepeng”. thank you for the effort and time you guys spend just to collect a donation’s for the victims, actually I’m one of the thousand’s of people who are affected of flood, but luckily where not suffer much, because there is a mall near us for us to buy some foods for our stomach to fill in and we saved our things from flood, yet we clean our house for a week just to bring back our normal lives and recover from the disastrous typhoon.
i really appreciate your kindness to us….
again thank you for your time and love to Filipino’s here in Philippines….
