Neckties. We’ve all seen them, making the wearer look fancy. Usually, you expect to find these neckties in important meetings or other formal gatherings. The one unusual place to see neckties, is on a dancer. Traveling the country, Quest arrives with style. Accenting their Purple, Silver, and Black clothing; a tie can be found.
FENG has been known to sport a tie in almost every performance Quest has done. You can also see Victor sporting a tie from time to time. There are so many things a tie can say to people. From a professional perspective, to just a simple accessory statement, ties turn heads as dancers stroll down the red carpet. To get a personal perspective, we asked FENG a couple of questions about what ties mean to him.
QueStyle: What inspired you to use a tie as an accessory?
FENG: I’ve always liked skinny ties. What’s not to love?
QueStyle: How do you think it contributes to the overall look Quest is going for?
FENG: Well it does help with the image that hip hop dance doesn’t have to be done in hip hop wear
QueStyle: Do you have a brand/style/material you prefer?
FENG: Nothing in particular, whatever I find interesting. I guess I just
prefer interesting….
QueStyle: Has it ever caused a problem while performing?
FENG: Not really…. but it has known to slap me in the face if I don’t pin it down
QueStyle: What would you say to guys trying to emulate the Quest look?
FENG: You got great taste in men
Ties are a personal expression. Quest has intentionally used the tie to reiterate that you don’t have to have a traditional hip-hop look to be a hip-hop dancer. From their hair and their shoes to their ties – Quest is challenging people’s expectations.

One of the reasons I love Quest is because of their unique style. They bring their own class to the hip hop and break world with their charismatically choreographed sets and their smart attire. Whatever Quest do, they think it through. They’ve created a sense that hip hop isn’t about the street defined ‘look’ or ‘moves’, it’s about creating your own style and stamping it everywhere you go.
